The RSI Trendline FINDER EA Input Tab

Below is a discussion and tips about the inputs required for the RSI Trendline FINDER EA.

The default setting are good general purpose settings for most currencies and timeframes. If you want to change them use the tips at the bottom of this page. There are no set files for the finder.

Please watch the Finder Video on the marketing page to view the RSI Finder functionality. For more detailed information please consult the User Manual.

  1. You can set the timeframes you want to see from M1 (1 minute) all the way to MN (monthly). Just enter them as shown. It might be an idea to limit the timeframes to the ones you really are most interested in. This will reduce the number of alerts you get and also reduce the computer resources to run the EA.
  2. You can also list as many crosses you would like to monitor. It might be an idea to limit the number of crosses to the ones you really are most interested in. This will reduce the number of alerts you get and also reduce the computer resources to run the EA.
  3. The look back period is not that important - generally 50 will be good
  4. The RSI period of 4 is good. The receive fewer alerts increase the number and to receive more decrease this number
  5. 80 / 20 are good numbers for RSI overbought and oversold levels. The receive fewer alerts change this to 90 / 10  and to receive more change this to 70 / 30 (The number must always add up to 100).
  6. The trigger area is where transactions can occur. If the trendline violation occurs outside of this area an entry signal will be not be signaled. The smaller this area the fewer the signals but possibly the higher the success rate - this will vary.
  7. The visualisation setting allow you to set the colours you like seeing on the table and charts
  8. The Alerts setting allow you to activate email, push notifications and sound notification. It also allows you to specify which type of sound notification you want to hear.

If your computer is under resourced loading too many timeframes and too many currencies will make your computer run out of memory. This could cause it to crash. Remember to regularly delete all temporary internet files and do a disk cleanup and reboot your computer.

If you are experiencing a low success rate consider the following

  1. Focus on higher time frames.
  2. Change the RSI setting to be higher e.g. from 4 to say 6
  3. Change the overbought and oversold levels e.g. increase the levels from 20 / 80 to 10 / 90.
  4. Change the trigger area - make it smaller e.g. decrease the levels from say 10 / 90 to 20 / 80
  5. Change the stop loss to be higher from say 120 to 160
  6. Change the targets to be smaller from say 150 to 100
  7. Consider limiting the trading times to say the UK or US sessions only
